Hello friends
Please forgive my very basic question, but I am an elderly computer novice and want to ensure I get this right.
I have come by two 250GB SSDs (long story). I have my OS and other applications (Office, etc) on one of these as the primary drive. My intention is to install WoW on the second SSD, which will also be an internal drive. I also want to put other space-hogging files like iTunes on that second drive.
If anyone has the time/inclination, could you please outline the steps necessary for a WoW installation of this kind, together with any pitfalls to watch out for? Is it possible to install the game on the secondary drive, but have the Battlenet client thingie on the primary drive (and if not, how would I start the game once installed)? Would there be any concerns with addon and/or patch installation that I should be aware of?
I appreciate your time, and apologies if this has been addressed elsewhere.
Many thanks!
I had thought that WoW could be moved between computer systems or drives without performing a full reinstall. I really hope I don't have to set up all my mods again. But when I attempt to start either World of Warcraft Launcher or Wow.exe files in the copied folder, I get the error message 'An error occurred, please restart. If problems persist contact customer support.' This is on a newly built system, which is running Windows 7 64-bit. The previous system was an aged Windows XP 32-bit system. Is there an issue running between 32 and 64 bit OSs? Should I be running the Wow-64.exe on the new system, and will the Launcher automatically start that instead of the other, regular Wow.exe (guessing 32-bit on this one)? Also, just noticed I am able to launch WoW from the external drive I'm using to copy from old PC to new PC. The new PC is running a SSD drive instead of the older SATA1 in the old system. Anything else to try? Thanks -
